Tips of Buying Wedding Rings

Wedding rings symbolize something different to every couple. The one thing they all have in common is that they're a symbol of the marriage. However, there are many different styles available, making the choice much more difficult. Here are some tips that may help make your purchase much easier.

Function of the Ring

Although the phrase "function" may seem strange to some, not everyone enjoys wearing rings or can wear them at their place of work. Wedding rings symbolize your love for each other, but when and how often they're worn should play a part in the selection of your rings. They can be very expensive and you don't want to spend a lot of money on something that's not going to be worn often.

Color and Metal Choice

Your wedding rings should fit comfortably. If one of you has a skin allergy to certain types of metal alloys, this needs to be considered when making your selection. The decision between yellow gold and platinum is definitely a matter of personal choice. If one likes platinum and the other yellow gold, there's no rule that says both have to have the same color. Mix it up so you're both happy. Your rings may be a symbol of your marriage and commitment to each other, but they should still be something you both like.

Diamonds or Bands?

Although there is a lot of truth to that saying, "diamonds are a girl's best friend", there are actually many women that would prefer a simple band to diamonds. As wonderful as it is to be able to surprise your partner with an unexpected diamond engagement ring, it's always better to have an idea if she likes diamonds before making the purchase.

Engraving

Engraving adds a special touch to the rings and personalizes them. Most women would prefer a simple ring with personalized engraving to a larger fancy right without engraving. Engraving can be costly however, depending on how many letters are used and if it's engraved by hand or machine. You can expect to pay anywhere from $1 to $8 per letter or more; however, to some it's more than worth the cost.

Budget

Although I've listed budget as the last factor in choosing wedding rings, it's usually the largest and most important factor. How much can you afford to spend? Even though they are a lasting symbol of your love, it doesn’t make sense to put yourself in debt just for buying wedding rings. Many couples buy simple rings and choose to spend the money on a honeymoon, furniture or savings on a house. In fact, there are wedding rings for almost any budget. There are a lot of discount jewelers online and off that provide wide range of selections at very affordable prices. Also, you can find low prices wedding bands at department stores like Sears and JCPenny.

When you buy your rings, check on what type of warranty and services they provide for in the future. Some jewelers will guarantee their rings against any damage as well as providing free cleaning and adjustments for so many years. Check this out.
